Omas I Think

Omas presents "I Think" limited edition to the study of evolution on the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth and to the 150th year since "On the Origin of the Species" was published. In 1831 twenty-two year-old Charles Darwin embarked on a five-year voyage on HMS Beagle as a companion to the captain. The purpose of the voyage was to chart the coasts of Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, but Darwin also recorded his observations on the natural history of plants and animals in countries then little known to European naturalists. Darwin was not yet an evolutionist, but later he would say the trip "was the most important event in my life and has determined my whole career" (Brown and Neve 1989, 2). Reproduced on the 925 sterling barrel is the route taken by HMS. The design is very intricate adorned with engravings of the species whose various mutations led to Darwin's theory: a mockingbird sits on the crown; turtle, iguana, lizard, flamingo, gannet and gecko footprints "walk" up the clip. The body of the pen is crafted in mature oak wood like the HMS Beagle itself. The fountain pen is piston-filler and has an 18K gold nib engraved with a mockingbird.
